ISRG | Director of Advancement
Location: Remote within the contiguous United States
Reports to: VP of Advancement
Total Compensation: $120k USD, 100% 401k Match, Excellent Insurance, Flexible PTO
Our mission at ISRG is to reduce financial, technological, and educational barriers to secure communication over the Internet. We operate three projects (Let’s Encrypt, Prossimo, and Divvi Up) that improve the security and privacy of billions of people using the Internet.
ISRG was founded 12 years ago. Throughout our history, we’ve grown and diversified our revenue to respond to evolving needs and ambitions within our organization. We are a small team so we focus on efficiency, automation, and going for the big wins (for example, the lowest tier in our corporate sponsorship program is $12,500 and the highest is $500,000+). We operate as a combined comms and fundraising team because we view the two functions as symbiotic. As such, we highly value and deliver strategic, compelling, and effective communications which are the wind in the sails of our successful fundraising.
We are looking for an experienced fundraising development professional to help strengthen and diversify our funding channels. Responsibilities primarily include:
- Expand and execute a corporate sponsorship strategy across operations, solicitation, and stewardship to grow corporate sponsorships ranging from $12,500 to $500,000+
- Build our earned revenue pipeline
- Contribute to high-value individual donors, communications strategy, grant writing, and new revenue development as opportunities arise
We are looking for someone who is a self-starter and seeks opportunities to expand or improve our work. That means you may work on other aspects of our fundraising, including communications strategy, grant strategy and writing, and revenue development for funding new ISRG projects.
Position Must-Haves
- Demonstrated success meeting nonprofit fundraising revenue targets
- Proven ability to cultivate and close 6+ figure gifts
- Skilled at managing multiple priorities and projects
- Creative thinking and the ability to create the systems and structure needed to make new ideas successful
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills
- Interest in technical aspects of our projects
- Systems-oriented thinker who eliminates inefficiencies
- Meticulous in maintaining data integrity in a CRM
- Resilient and persistent; able to pursue opportunities with determination while maintaining positive relationships
- Collaborative mindset; lending a hand to get the highest priority work done even if it’s not usually on your plate
- Willingness and ability to travel
We are heavily funded by tech companies new and old. You will be building relationships with senior technical leaders (CTOs, CIOs, Founders / CEO). You should be comfortable understanding their needs, adapting your communication style, and shaping messages that resonate with this audience. While sponsorships represent a company’s support for our work, this is still a heavily relationship-driven effort.
Location and Benefits
This is a remote position available anywhere in the contiguous United States. Travel expectations are 3-5 times per year. We will help you get your home office in good shape, including reimbursing internet and phone expenses every month. Other benefits include excellent medical, dental, vision, and supplemental insurances with no premiums for you or your dependents, 100% match for 401k contributions, flexible time off and generous parental leave.
EEO Statement and Inclusive Workplace
Not sure if you actually meet some of our requirements? Studies have shown that female-identifying folks and people of color are less likely to be confident that they meet requirements. At ISRG we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but you’re not sure if your past experience aligns with the requirements in the job description, we encourage you to reach out to [email protected].
ISRG is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, gender, orientation, national origin, age, disability, or any other characteristic. We celebrate diversity and strive to create an inclusive workplace for everyone. It is a priority for us to represent the diversity of the billions of people who use the Internet for their lives and work. We want to understand how to make security and privacy more accessible to everyone, and we value different perspectives and experiences. We strongly encourage people from under-represented communities to apply to help us make the Internet better!
